Country music performer. Born March 20, 1946. Best-known as Ranger Doug from Riders in the Sky, a cowboy revival act he co-founded in 1977. Jimmie Davis (1899- ), Anglo-American country singer and songwriter from Louisiana, whose style was deeply influenced by early country music star Jimmie Rodgers. One of the first "hillbilly" singers to be signed by Decca, Davis had a long career as a singer and songwriter, including "You Are My Sunshine," as well as serving two terms as the governor of Louisiana.
